Oxyfluorfen is a chloroacetanilide contact herbicide that is able to control or eliminate weed activity with the presence of light. The herbicide inhibits photosynthesis by blocking the light reaction in plants. It primarily enters the plant through the coleoptile and hypocotyl with minimal absorption through the roots, and a very small amount is transported upwards through the roots into the leaves. It is a low toxicity type weed killer and primarily used on certain annual broadleaf plants, as well as grassy weeds in fruit or vegetables.

Application/Usage: This herbicide is a protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) inhibitor, acting as a selective contact herbicide primarily absorbed by foliage, especially shoots, with limited translocation. It controls broad-leaved weeds and grasses in tropical and subtropical crops, both pre- and post-emergence, at rates of 0.25-2.0 kg/ha. It is effective on various crops: tree fruit, vines, nuts, cereals, maize, soybeans, peanuts, rice, cotton, ornamental trees, seedbeds etc. Note that phytotoxity might occur to soybeans and cotton upon contact. Groundboom and backpack sprayers are typically utilized for applying liquid formulations and aerial application is mainly employed for fallow fields.
